Join the Women of Bet Aviv on April 14, 2024 for our annual Day of Giving which this year coincides with the Jewish Federation of Howard County’s Good Deeds Day. We will be collecting needed items for the Grassroots Day Resource Center’s pantry and for Camp Attaway which is located in Columbia at OMI from 1-3PM. Terri Clayman’s car will collect the items for the DRC and Jamie Insley’s car will collect the Camp Attaway items<//p>
The Day Resource Center in Jessup is operated by the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center. The DRC provides hot meals, laundry, showers, a pantry, computer access and a place to receive mail. In addition, a Community Resource Specialist is on site to help people sign up for health insurance, obtain birth certificates, obtain SSA cards, obtain DMV ID cards and steer them to services that they may be eligible for. There is also a representative from Humanim weekly to help people obtain food stamp benefits.

Camp Attaway is a one-of-a kind Howard County therapeutic program that provides services for children with complex emotional and behavioral disorders and their families. They run a therapeutic summer camp for children who have difficulties managing their emotions and regulating their behaviors and education, and support groups for their parents. The children Camp Attaway serves often face challenges when they try to participate in traditional camp experiences and have been asked to leave afterschool and summer programs. Through Camp Attaway, children learn how to break out of their negative cycle and learn new skills while enjoying sports, nature, art, rock climbing, swimming and adventures of all kinds.
